Made by Wombat is excited to announce the release of three new dice sets: the Thorn V2, Thorn V2 Mini, and the Helix Mini sets. All three sets are now available at the Made by Wombat Shapeways shop at https://www.shapeways.com/shops/madebywombat
The classic Thorn dice were designed ten years ago, and to commemorate the anniversary they have been redesigned to Version 2. The new design has more sinuous flow, larger numbers, and bigger thorns. The original Thorn dice looked as though they may have been designed by mountain dwarves. The new V2 looks more suited to wood elves. The Thorn V2 set is designed for creation in steel and is available in six finishes. The finish shown in the attached pictures is Polished Bronze-Silver Steel.
The Thorn V2 Mini set is an 80% scale version of the Thorn V2 set. It is designed for creation in the Shapeways cast metals (brass, bronze, silver, gold, and platinum). With the Shapeways cast metal process, the model is printed in high-resolution wax, invested in plaster, and then cast using the lost-wax method. The extra attention from the casting artists ensures a smooth finish. The dice in the pictures are natural (unpolished) bronze.
The Helix Mini set is an 80% scale version of the Helix V2 set. Like the Thorn V2 Mini set above, they are designed for creation in cast metals. The intersecting helices of these dice make them beautiful for jewelry applications as well as on the tabletop.
